The first time I installed under-cabinet LED strip lights I didn't use a channel / diffuser lens. The quality of light was fine, but the LED reflections in the granite counter were noticeable and annoying. New kitchen now and I used the channels / lenses and it is a cleaner installation and cleaner reflection in the countertop. Up your game and use the channels.
