How do I connect my HD LED Strip Lights? - TSS #36

Welcome to Hitlights’ Trouble Shooting Series, where we tackle the most common questions and concerns you might have about LED Strip Lights.

Today’s Topic: High Density (HD) LED Light Strips and Connectors

Or more accurately, why won't my Connector work with this High Density LED strip? It's certainly no surprise that not all products are compatible with each other, but we've got a few tricks to help you get your strips and connectors working together!

1. Can my regular Connectors work with an HD LED Strip Light?

HD LED Strip Lights have their LED chips so close together that a regular Connector usually won't work with them. It's not the end of the world though, there are a couple options  to help you connect your HD LED Strip Lights!

2. What's the simplest fix?

The simplest fix for this issue with high density strips is to use high density connectors! While it may sound a bit obvious, different parts and accessories serve different purposes, and the HD Connectors are made to work with HD LED Strip Lights, and vice versa.

3. Will it work with what I already have?

Thankfully there's a way around having to buy an HD connector if you already have a regular connector. To use the regular connector that normally wouldn't fit on the HD LED strip light, instead of cutting between the contacts on your strip, cut just to the side of one. The additional bit of strip will be enough to allow you to use regular connectors with HD LED strip light!  This link here gives very useful information for use of connectors with the Luma5 Strip.
