Are you looking for commercial LED strip lights that shine brighter, don’t flicker, but consume less energy?
It sounds too good to be true, but yes, with a light-emitting diode (LED), this is possible. LEDs can offer up to two-thirds of energy reduction while providing the same light output as incandescent lights.
Learn more about how LED works and how it consumes less energy than typical alternatives.
How LED Consumes Less Energy
One LED bulb is equivalent to 9 incandescent bulbs. This is why many homeowners and business owners are switching to LED bulbs to brighten their interiors.
LED is the modern lighting today. It is bright, lasts longer, and most importantly, it consumes less energy!
Increased Efficiency
Traditional incandescent light bulbs utilize filament light. This relies on heating a thin tungsten filament using high amounts of electricity to produce light. When electric current flows into the filament, it generates a lot of heat until it reaches a point where photons are produced. At this point, the filament lights up.
Meanwhile, LED uses a diode or semiconductor which sparks up through electroluminescence. In LEDs, the semiconductor is doped—other elements are added to the material to change its properties.
This allows the LED semiconductor to possess two sets of properties, one with electrons and the other with electron holes. These two semiconductors are separated in between by a p-n junction.
As electric current enters one side of the semiconductor, electrons fill the electron holes on the other semiconductor. This process produces photons, which are considered lights.
Because electricity flows in only one direction with LEDs, there is no need for reflectors and diffusers that trap light, making LEDs more energy efficient.
Lower Heat Production
As incandescent light bulbs depend on heat energy to produce light, 95% of electrical energy goes into generating heat, and only 5% goes into infrared light.
Meanwhile, the semiconductors in LEDs don’t rely on infrared light to produce photons. Therefore, most of the electrical energy is used to produce light, with only a little being used to produce heat due to the inefficiency of semiconductors.
As a result, LED lights can produce as much brightness as an incandescent bulb by generating a lot less heat, and therefore, also a lot less energy.
Various Types of LED Lights
LED lights are a low-energy, high-performance, and low-maintenance lighting solution for everyone. In fact, they’re so convenient that they can be used practically anywhere and everywhere in the form of strip lights.
Flexible, highly customizable, and can be used to light almost anything, LED strip lights are some of the most sought-after lighting options in the market today
