PRODUCT DETAILS:

This 150 watt M-Series dimmable driver from HitLights is a magnetic, ETL Listed Class 2 power supply that converts 120V AC to regulated 12V DC for single-color 12V LED strip lights. It is intended for larger indoor under-cabinet, cove, display and architectural accent lighting projects where wall-dimmer control and high power capacity are required.

The driver accepts 120VAC input (108–132VAC, 50/60 Hz) and delivers 12V DC output up to 150 watts, or 12.5 amps, with a power factor of 0.96 and efficiency around 82 percent. Auto-reset protection on both the primary and secondary sides helps protect the transformer and connected loads against overload and short-circuit conditions.

A robust magnetic-core design sits inside a metal enclosure measuring 76 x 249 x 76 mm (2-15/16 x 9-7/8 x 2-15/16 inches), rated NEMA 3R for dry and damp environments and intended for indoor use. Bare wire connections and a wiring compartment with knockouts support code-compliant installation in junction boxes or utility spaces.

  • Input: 120VAC (108–132VAC), 50/60 Hz
  • Output: 12V DC, 150W (12.5A), Class 2 circuit
  • Dimming range: 0–100% with phase/forward-edge MLV TRIAC dimmers
  • Environmental: NEMA 3R (dry and damp), working temp -22°F to 113°F (-30°C to 45°C)
  • Certifications: ETL Listed, Class 2; thermal class B (130°C); 6-year warranty

M-Series drivers are compatible with many Lutron dimmers (Ariadni, Vareo, Nova, Ceana, Diva, Gyder, Lyneo, Nova T, Skylark) and Leviton dimmers (Mural, SureSlide, ToggleTouch, Vizia), giving installers flexibility to match existing control hardware. The driver is recommended for single-color LED strip lighting and is not intended for RGB or COB strip types.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: What is the HitLights 150W M-Series dimmable driver used for?
A: It is a 150 watt magnetic dimmable LED driver that converts 120V AC to 12V DC to power single-color 12V LED strip lights on indoor circuits. It is designed for larger under-cabinet, cove, display and architectural lighting runs that need wall-dimmer control and Class 2 low-voltage power.

Q: Who should use this 12V 150W magnetic dimmable driver?
A: This driver is aimed at electricians, low-voltage contractors, lighting designers and advanced DIY users who build medium to long 12V strip light runs. The 150W capacity suits kitchens, long counters, shelving systems and commercial displays where a single high-power driver is preferred over multiple smaller units.

Q: How does the M-Series driver work with wall dimmers?
A: The driver connects to 120VAC through a compatible magnetic low-voltage (MLV) TRIAC wall dimmer and then outputs a dimmed 12V DC feed to the LED strips. It supports phase or forward-edge dimming and is compatible with many Lutron and Leviton dimmer families listed in the product compatibility sheet.

Q: What are the key electrical and physical specifications?
A: Input is 120VAC (108–132VAC), 50/60 Hz, and output is 12V DC up to 150W, or 12.5 amps, rated as a Class 2 circuit. The enclosure measures 76 x 249 x 76 mm (2-15/16 x 9-7/8 x 2-15/16 inches), with efficiency around 82 percent and a power factor of 0.96. It is NEMA 3R rated for dry and damp indoor locations.

Q: How does this M-Series driver compare to non-dimmable or plug-in power supplies?
A: Non-dimmable or plug-in adapters are not designed for phase-cut dimming and often flicker or shut off when used with wall dimmers. The M-Series driver is purpose-built for dimming, using a magnetic core, 0–100% MLV TRIAC dimming range, auto-reset protection and ETL Listed Class 2 output to provide smoother, more reliable light control in permanent installations.

Q: What is included with the 150W M-Series dimmable driver?
A: The package includes the 150W M-Series magnetic driver with bare wire leads and a wiring compartment with knockouts for line, neutral, ground, and low-voltage output connections. LED strips, dimmers, junction boxes, connectors and mounting accessories are supplied separately based on the project design and local codes.

Q: Can this driver be used outdoors or with RGB or COB LED strips?
A: This model is NEMA 3R rated for dry and damp conditions and is intended for indoor use; waterproof outdoor drivers are recommended for exterior locations. It is designed for single-color 12V LED strips and is not a controller for RGB or COB strip lights, which require dedicated multi-channel control hardware.

Lutron LED Pro + capable.

I got the 150 W M-series driver after talking over my needs with the HITLights team. I’ve had a lot of friends update their lighting options and the one thing I noted was none of them were adding dimmable under cabinet lights. There are times when full brightness is needed and times when just a lil makes sense.

The driver and associated light strips went in very easily, I did use a channel with white lens for mounting the strips - I just prefer the look, and while 3M makes a great tape - I use their window covering in my drafty old house, after enough time, the glue fails.
Vendors and my friends have praised the look and flexibility/functionality of system installed and with Lutron dimmers - I can control things from the wall switch, from the cel phone, and hands free via your favorite assistant (Siri, Alexa, Cortana - pick a system).

Thanks for helping me with the configuration and figuring out that I needed to change the phase on the Lutron LED Pro+ dimmers for everything to work as hoped)

powers the LED tape lights

assembled and worked fine. I did purchase the in line dimmer but it melted. I guess couldn't handle the watts of a 16 ft tape light.

Just as good as the double priced t-formers from the supply house.

I am a licensed electrician in Putnam and Westchester counties in NY. I work with a lot of high end clients from NYC who lets just say want the best of the best and don't care about cost. I use these as opposed to the super expensive dimmable transformers from the supply house and nobody knows the difference. They also feel, and look exactly the same as the high end ones so there literally is zero difference aside from the fact that Hitlights is far cheaper for all of their products. I have been installing Hitlights for all of my clients for the last 5 years, and ive had very few call backs which were related to the products.
