These slender, mountable strips can be connected if you’re really going for that full custom mode that offers a few considerations.  While soldering connection joints have become the go-to method for years, connectors have recently made personalized lighting simple and easy.

Can I connect LED Light Strips?

The simple answer is yes! One of the reasons why strip lighting rose to popularity is that they can be connected end-to-end to bring creative accents and colors conventional lighting cannot. There are two ways to go about this. The first is soldering but this method requires special tools and skills to achieve. They’re applicable for some of the most robust and complex lighting setups, so it’s better to leave them to professionals.

The simpler, more convenient alternative is the use of connectors. These little, but handy, accessories can give life to any space with just a simple clip. There are the simpler ones that simply connect two strips together and there are L-Shaped connectors that let you go around corners for more imaginative lighting. Just make sure that you have a power adapter large enough to handle all your strips. Also, depending on how many strips you're connecting you may need amplifiers as well to keep the brightness consistent.

Why would I connect LED Strip Lights?

Whether your purpose is to enhance interiors, create a scenic view, or set a particular mood to an otherwise dull space, LED light strips have near endless applications. And these are not limited to nooks and crannies with tight corners. You can create a cozier look and feel to your bedroom, den, or living room. You can also accentuate hallways or staircase. With that being said, a single LED Light Strip might not be enough to make it all the way through, so being able to connect multiple strips together is the obvious way to go.

These may require complex connections and creative angles that are more than your strip can handle. If you’re in a bit of such a pickle, don’t call in the cavalry just yet. Jumper cable strip connectors are a lifesaver and they can give you professional-looking results without actually paying for one. Like their L-Shaped counterparts, they work great in tight corners but they take it up a notch as they can extend strip lights across gaps while providing connectivity to a power supply or a dimmer. They also come in handy when a lighting project specializes in unique shapes and angles.

Jumper Cable Connectors

These solderless strip connectors come in handy both as strip extensions or when a lighting project has a unique shape. Like their L-Shaped counterparts, they also work great in tight corners but they take it up a notch as they can extend strip lights across gaps while providing connectivity to a power supply or a dimmer. If you’re looking to light up kitchens, cabinets, bedrooms, shelving, and display cases.

Connector Kits

For more complex lighting, there’s a complete strip lighting connector package that can do all the heavy lifting for you. These kits come with gapless connectors, jumper connectors, 2-way DC splitters, and DC female connectors. They let you do a bit of everything from connecting strip segments with dimmers, going about gaps and corners, setting up unique lighting designs, and splitting power or control signals in two distinct directions.

Why would I connect LED Light Strips?

The primary benefit of connecting strips is being able to light a larger area. One LED Light Strip might not be enough to make it all the way around a room, so being able to connect multiple strips together can solve your problem. Or maybe you want to light your hallway, but don't want to bend your strips around the corner. You can use an any angle connector to solve that problem!

Do I need tools to connect LED Light Strips?

For simply connecting one strip to another, no tools are needed, unless you’re really going for highly-intricate, well-detailed spaces like a showroom or an art gallery to create more visually advanced illumination.

With gapless connectors, jumper connectors, 2-way DC splitters, and DC female connectors you can do a bit of everything from connecting strip segments with dimmers, going about gaps and corners, setting up unique lighting designs, and splitting power or control signals in two distinct directions without the aid of tools or special equipment. So, before thinking about creating a more permanent fixture, you may want to explore the possibilities of strip lighting kits and components that maximize your installation's appeal.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

When connecting LED Strip Lights, make sure that the strips are properly aligned. Batteries, for instance, have positive and negative sides which are marked with a "+" sign respectively. They should be connected appropriately with the corresponding side in the connector (also marked with a "+" sign for your convenience.) If the strips are aligned properly, make sure the prongs make a good connection, you may need to gently press down on them to get them just right. If you need more help, try looking here.

Weatherproof LED Light Strips, on the other hand like our Luma10 series, the weatherproof coating material can get in the connectors. Cleaning out any of the excess material should be enough to get your strips up and running, assuming they're properly aligned and the prongs are well-connected.

Lighting projects are about well thought out plans as they are about vision and imagination. Having a drawing, no matter how crude, also comes in handy. These are just some of the things you need to consider before embarking on any lighting project.
